Bode to leave organization fighting to preserve tax break for wind power industry, says she will return to private practice Denise Bode will step down as CEO of the American Wind Energy Association Jan. 1, leaving a group that has spent the past year struggling to convince federal lawmakers to extend tax breaks for wind farms. Bode, who became head of AWEA in 2009, announced in a statement she was resigning to return to private practice as a tax attorney.
